Road Trip!!!

We had a great time, took a billion pictures, and talked ourselves into year round passes. If we go just once more the passes are paid for. We're thinking maybe end of May? Will have to check the schedules... the flowers were beautiful but would have been better if we'd gotten there maybe a week or two ago, the season for them is just ending. Too tired to upload the pictures now (we walked forEVER! SO wish we had had a pedometer to measure how far we walked!), will try to address the pictures tomorrow if my work schedule accommodates. :-)

SEKRIT message to moyawyvern.
In other news...

So good news and bad news on the sale of the old house. FINALLY got the back. Details behind the cut:

cracking noted on mortar caps on roof in various areas

Flashing on the vent pipe on the NE corner of the roof is installed incorrectly. Suggest repair to prevent water from dripping down the vent pipe into the structure. The counter flashing at the roof/home/garage roof connection is incomplete

The main condensate drain line for the attic section of the a/c unit should be checked for proper flow as there is evidence of past water collecting in the secondary catch pan under the attic unit

Window at the SW corner of the living room area was noted to have a hole in the exterior window pane

The W. Window in the master bedroom was noted to have a hold in it

The dish spray-gun at the kitchen sink down not appear to function properly. Some minor moisture was noted at the handle of the kitchen sink faucet when tested.
.

It sounds like a lot, but they are pretty minor things. I think the windows are the only thing that will really cost money. The great thing is that they also said they want to move the closing date up. Haven't received the paperwork with the new date yet, but end of May was mentioned. That is 2 weeks sooner than before! Woo hoo!

I didn't mention it before the squirrel in the attic finally fell for the trap Sunday morning. Everyone came over here after the ceremony to bury my grandmother's ashes so they all had a good time watching the squirrel before he was taken to the park and let go. Supposedly Daddy has blocked the place he got in from. So far so good!

House Update

So my realtor called the buyer's realtor and asked about the inspection. It was on Wednesday and we still haven't heard the results. the answer was "they were still discussing it...." WTF? What does that mean? The house is only 7 years old. And yes, there a couple of MINOR things that we are aware of, but nothing big. Now I'm freaked out they are going to use this as an out to get out of the contract. *beats head in*

ETA: They have until Sunday to give us the results of the inspection. I think I might be batshit insane by then. I have the same bad feeling I had when the rental fell through.... *cries*

Critter in the Attic

So I've suspected for a while there is a critter in the attic. There was only so many times could tell myself that they were on the roof when the attic was right above my head, not the roof. So being the brave, resourceful woman I am... I called Daddy to come investigate. ;-) So Saturday he came over and looked in the attic and said he did think there was a critter but he hadn't seen it. He also thought he knew how they were getting in. So we set up a trap (doesn't hurt them just catches them) with a piece of bread with peanut butter. I waited a couple of days, didn't hear the critter (yay!). Then heard stuff and thought maybe its caught!... yeah no. I locked the animals away (cause they'd run into the attic if I opened the door with them out) and went up to investigate. I opened the door and a squirrel stopped on dime to turn and stare at me. We eyed each other a little while and then I closed the door ( I am so not chasing a squirrel around my attic, especially when he has a way out). He apparently was not interested in the peanut butter bread, it doesn't look like its been touched... So time to come up with a new plan...

I don't want to report it to squeaky if its already a known issue...

So...

So IJ is back. The issues were with the old host (thank goodness), he hasn't moved yet. So the question is this: do I pay for a permanent account to support the move to the new host and pray issues like these don't happen again? I'm really glad he didn't lose any data in the snafu, for awhile it sounded like he had lost one month's worth... Don't really have a lot of money right now, but its the cheapest I've seen a permanent account before.... oh dilemnas!

Offer on House

Probably jinxing everything by even mentioning it... but got an offer on the old house! It of course sucks, cause its a sucky market, but beggars can't be choosers. So barring any unforeseen complications with the offer I'll probably take it. At least then I'll stop spending money on it... I don't mind paying the mortgage, cause hey, building equity, ya know? But paying for electricity, water, sewer/garbage, HOA... THAT bothers me. A LOT. Its pretty good timing too, just arranged for regular landscaping service to start up again (at a whopping $150/month) and the insurance went up as they realized its vacant now. So money is really really tight now. Was thrilled this morning when my boss agreed to let me expense my internet bill. That's $45 I can put towards the landscaping bill for the old house...

Please please please let this deal go through. Everyone think good thoughts for it. What's more nerve-wracking than usual about it is that they don't want to close until June 13th. 2 months to stress about it possibly falling through. The other sale fell through one week from closing..so I won't be feeling good until the money is in the bank.

*bites nails*

New Communities

I went ahead and created my communities sentinelficfind, ncisficfind, wwficfind, ghficfinder and mag7ficfind. I figure there is no reason they can't go ahead and use it now.

Thinking about finding a way to move over the posts from the LJ communities so we have some history and users can find fics that have been searched for before. Not sure how best to go about that though. A lot of the searchers didn't update the actual post with a link to the found fic and since you can't move over comments or edit the posts after they are moved over (at least I don't think you can) that doesn't seem very helpful. Maybe just move over the ones where the searcher updated the post appropriately?
